Uttarakhand Prisons Department came into existence on 9 November, 2000 after the re-organization of States. Initially the Prisons Department consisted of only few Central Jails, District Jails and Sub Jails.
Custody, Control, Care and Correction(4Cs) of prisoners.
Rehabilitation and reformation of prisoners.
Custodial safety and security of inmates.
Providing basic congenial environment for ensuring human dignity.
Special care for women and their children.
Drug de-addiction through physiological and psychological approach.

Message from Prisons Department

Prisons Department,
Uttarakhand is working diligently for ensuring best possible care of inmates. For ameliorating the sufferings of prisoners lodged in different jails of Uttarakhand during this hardship caused by Covid 19 disease spread and as physical mulaqats of prisoners with their relatives have been stopped till further orders, the Prisons Department, Uttarakhand has taken an initiative by which relatives of prisoners can send financial help to their prisoners for using Canteen/Telephone facilities available for inmates through this portal. Lets work together to fight this disease with our joint efforts.
